The purpose of fairy tales is to entertain, however, they tend to have a concealed moral teaching/symbolism within them. After researching into censorship within different media, I looked at how the original fairy tales, dating back to the 1600s, contained topics we censor from children today, and how they have been adapted to be suitable for children in modern society. Through digital and print I will show how and where these issues have been censored in modern fairy tales, showing contrast and revealing the uncomfortable historical events that lie beneath the contemporary fairy-tales, to communicate the idea to a wider audience.
